Senator Sani Musa Assures Nigerians of Comprehensive Tax Reforms

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Sani Musa (APC, Niger East), has reaffirmed the National Assembly’s commitment to enacting reforms that will bolster Nigeria’s economy, enhance the ease of doing business, and ensure equitable and transparent taxation. Musa made these remarks at the conclusion of a two-day public hearing on proposed tax reform bills in Abuja.

 

According to Musa, Nigeria aims to join the ranks of advanced economies that efficiently collect and utilize revenue. He emphasized that the committee’s recommendations will significantly influence tax policies, identifying areas for improvement to boost revenue generation, promote investments, and alleviate taxpayer burdens.

 

Musa assured Nigerians that the committee will carefully review submissions from stakeholders and refine the proposed bills to serve the best interests of all Nigerians. He also confirmed that the committee will present its recommendations to the Senate and the National Assembly on the four bills submitted by President Bola Tinubu.

 

The public hearing brought together key stakeholders from Nigeria’s economic and financial sectors, demonstrating the collaborative effort to reform the country’s tax system.

 

As Senator Musa noted, “Our recommendations have enriched our discussions and will go a long way in shaping tax policies.” This assurance is a positive step towards creating a more favorable business environment and promoting economic growth in Nigeria.
