The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, received the House of Representatives Committee on Pensions on an official oversight visit to its headquarters in Abuja.
The visit, led by Committee Chairman, Honourable Jallo Hussaini Mohammed, provided an opportunity to assess PTAD’s operations and review its budget performance for 2024 and the first half of 2025.
In her welcome remarks, PTAD Executive Secretary, Tolulope Odunaiya, thanked the Committee for its consistent support and collaboration. She outlined the Directorate’s achievements, including the successful implementation of the 20/28% pension increment from January 2024, integrated into the September 2024 payroll, alongside full settlement of accrued arrears.
Odunaiya further explained that PTAD had continued payment of arrears from the N32,000 pension increment and the 10.66% and 12.95% increases, funded through savings from pension sub-head balances after monthly disbursements.
She disclosed that Presidential approval had been secured for critical pension-related provisions in the 2026 budget proposal. These include funding for the full implementation of the N32,000 pension increment, settlement of unfunded liabilities, a proposed pension harmonization policy, and health insurance coverage for Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS) pensioners.
While reaffirming PTAD’s commitment to DBS pensioners, she acknowledged the National Assembly’s oversight role and sought further legislative support to address operational challenges.
In his remarks, Hon. Jallo Hussaini Mohammed commended PTAD’s strides in improving pension payments and service delivery. He assured that the Committee would continue working with PTAD to ensure the welfare of DBS pensioners remains a national priority.
