Nigeria’s Flying Eagles revived their hopes at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Saudi Arabia on Friday.
Nasiru Salihu opened scoring for Nigeria in the 10th minute with a powerful header, while Kparobo Ariehi came close to doubling the advantage but was denied by the Saudi goalkeeper.
Saudi Arabia drew level in the 21st minute through Amar Al Yuhaybi. The Flying Eagles restored their lead in the 38th minute as right-back Amos Ochoche slotted home inside the box.
Five minutes after the restart, substitute Talal Haji equalised for Saudi Arabia with a fine header.
Nigeria, however, sealed the win in stoppage time when captain Daniel Bameyi converted from the penalty spot to hand his side a vital three points.
The result lifts the seven-time African champions to third place in Group F with three points from two games. Colombia and Norway lead the group with four points apiece.
The Flying Eagles will face Colombia in their final group match on Sunday morning.
