The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Federal Capital Territory Council, Comrade Grace Ike, has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, sacrifice and national renewal as Christians and Muslims commence the sacred seasons of Lent and Ramadan.
Ike made the call in a goodwill message issued on Wednesday in Abuja, where she extended warm greetings to the faithful across the FCT and the country.
She described the twin periods of fasting, prayer and reflection as profound reminders of the enduring values of discipline, compassion and love for humanity.
According to her, the seasons present a unique opportunity for Nigerians to draw closer to God, strengthen their moral resolve and recommit themselves to peaceful coexistence and national development.
“At a time when our nation yearns for unity, stability and progress, I urge all adherents to use this holy season to pray fervently for Nigeria, for our leaders and for the continued peace and security of the Federal Capital Territory,” she said.
The NUJ FCT chairman also reaffirmed the commitment of journalists to promoting truth, fairness and responsible reportage capable of fostering harmony and understanding among the country’s diverse population.
She urged Nigerians to allow the sacred season to inspire acts of peace, tolerance and mutual respect in their daily interactions.
Ike further wished Muslim and Christian faithful a spiritually fulfilling Ramadan and Lenten season, expressing hope that the period would usher in renewed hope and greater prosperity for the nation.
