The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has condemned the deadly attack on residents of Angwan Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, describing it as senseless and unacceptable.
The attack, which reportedly occurred on Sunday night, claimed several lives and left many others injured, throwing the community into mourning.
In a condolence message issued on Monday, Kalu expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident, commiserating with bereaved families and the Plateau State Government.
“I am deeply saddened by the unfortunate attack on innocent residents of Angwan Rukuba. My thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost their loved ones and those currently receiving treatment,” he said.
He stressed that the sanctity of human life must be upheld at all times, noting that such acts of violence have no place in a civilised society.
The Deputy Speaker assured residents that security agencies would leave no stone unturned in tracking down the perpetrators and bringing them to justice.
He also called for calm among residents, urging them to cooperate with law enforcement authorities by providing useful information that could aid ongoing investigations.
Kalu further emphasised the need for strengthened security measures across vulnerable communities and renewed commitment from all stakeholders to ensure lasting peace in Plateau State and across the country.
