…Voting Enters Decisive Stage Ahead of July Ceremony
The HallowMace Foundation and its partners have announced the final three nominees per geo-political zone for the 2026 National Legislative Awards, marking the commencement of the last phase of public voting.
The organisers said the shortlisted lawmakers emerged after a rigorous selection process involving Nigerian citizens and members of the National Assembly Press Corps.
According to the Foundation, the nominees—drawn from both the Senate and the House of Representatives—were selected based on their legislative performance, oversight functions, and constituency representation.
“These nominees represent the ‘last three’ standing per zone following extensive voting by the Nigerian public and legislative correspondents,” the organisers stated.
In the South-East, the senatorial nominees include Enyinnaya Abariba, Victor Umeh, and Osita Izunaso, while Benjamin Kalu, Dominic Okafor, and Chike Okafor were listed for the House of Representatives.
For the South-South, the Senate nominees are Seriake Dickson, Adams Oshiomhole, and Asuquo Ekpenyong, while Frederick Agbedi, Francis Waive, and Inombek Awaji-Abiante made the House list.
In the South-West, Opeyemi Bamidele, Solomon Olamilekan, and Abdulfattah Buhari emerged as senatorial nominees, with Akin Rotimi, Babajimi Benson, and Oluwole Oke representing the House category.
From the North-Central zone, Sani Musa, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, and Aliyu Wadada were nominated for the Senate, while Terseer Ugbor, Saidu Musa Abdullahi, and Jonathan Gaza were shortlisted for the House.
In the North-East, Abdul Ningi, Mohammed Monguno, and Mohammed Danjuma Goje were listed for the Senate, while Laori Bitrus, Ahmadu Jaha, and Bello Kumo made the House list.
For the North-West, the Senate nominees include Hussaini Babangida Uba, Sunday Katung, and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, while Hassan Fulata, Abdussamad Dasuki, and Sada Soli were selected for the House of Representatives.
The Foundation announced that voting for the final stage opened on April 16 and will run until April 30, 2026.
“In this crucial phase, members of the public are invited to vote to select one Senator and one House of Representatives member per geo-political zone from the list of final nominees,” the statement added.
Votes are to be submitted via email to the organisers, while final winners will be determined through a combination of public participation and validation by the National Assembly Press Corps.
The award ceremony is scheduled to hold in July 2026, where winners will be honoured for their contributions to legislative development in Nigeria.
