The Senate Minority Leader, on Friday picked his Expression of Interest and Nomination Form of the for the 2027 senatorial election, vowing to lead the party to victory in Benue State.
Moro, who represents Benue South Senatorial District, obtained the form at the PDP State Secretariat in Makurdi amid cheers from party supporters and members of the State Working Committee.
Addressing party faithful shortly after, the lawmaker expressed confidence in the PDP’s chances, declaring that the party would reclaim the Benue State Government House in the next general election.
“I am excited to pick the form as the first senatorial aspirant. I came to buy it myself, not through proxy, to show that we are serious,” he said.
The senator also referenced recent court victories involving the party, noting that earlier doubts about its participation in the elections had been laid to rest.
“Naysayers said we won’t get a platform to contest, but today we are firmly on the PDP platform. That alone is worth celebrating,” he added.
Moro assured that he would mobilise support for all PDP candidates, insisting that Benue South, also known as Zone C, remained a traditional stronghold of the party.
“I will fight for myself and other PDP flag bearers to win our elections. Zone C is home to the PDP, and we will demonstrate that in 2027,” he said.
He urged aspirants who were yet to secure nominations to remain patient, describing political setbacks as temporary.
“It is painful to lose nomination or election, but what matters is the ability to rise again,” he stated.
Recounting his political trajectory, Moro said past challenges had strengthened his resolve, noting that he went on to serve a full term as a federal minister despite earlier setbacks.
He further pledged to sustain what he described as quality representation in the Senate, assuring constituents that he would not disappoint if re-elected.
The PDP has been strategising to strengthen its position in Benue ahead of the 2027 elections, amid expectations of a keen contest with rival parties for control of the state.
