The Nigeria Police Force has arrested eight suspected kidnappers following a coordinated raid on Rukubi Community in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, where two AK-47 rifles, motorcycles and ammunition were recovered.
The operation followed a distress call after armed men invaded the community on the night of May 6, 2026, shooting sporadically, storming two homes and abducting two residents.
Police operatives of the Nasarawa State Command, working with other security agencies and local vigilantes, mobilised to the area and tracked the suspects, leading to their arrest.
The suspects were identified as Adamu Alfa, Muhammed Alfa, Shuaibu Alfa, Usman Alfa, Ali Alfa, Isa Alfa, another Adamu Alfa and Ja’afaru Alfa, all from Rugan Alhaji Alfa in Rukubi Village.
Items recovered include two AK-47 rifles, four Bajaj motorcycles and two expended 7.62mm ammunition shells linked to the attack.
One of the suspects reportedly sustained fatal injuries during the operation and later died while receiving treatment.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the operatives for what he described as a decisive, intelligence-led operation, noting that it reflects the effectiveness of inter-agency collaboration in tackling violent crime.
He also praised the support of sister security agencies, vigilante groups and residents, describing their cooperation as critical to the success of the operation.
