Chinda Wins APC Rivers Guber Primary, Pledges Inclusive Governance

…Kicker: 2027 Rivers Governorship Race

Former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Kingsley Chinda, has emerged the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Announcing the result, the Chairman of the APC Governorship and House of Assembly Primary Committee, Rt. Hon. Laori Kwamoti, declared that Chinda secured 268,497 valid votes to clinch the party’s ticket after meeting all constitutional requirements and party guidelines.

According to the committee, Chinda ran as a sole candidate after other aspirants either withdrew from the race or stepped down in the course of consultations within the party.

In a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Ekesunnie Caleb, the APC flag bearer was said to have earlier participated in the voting exercise at his Elelenwo hometown, where a large crowd of party supporters reportedly turned out to back him.

Chinda, in his acceptance remarks, pledged to run an inclusive administration anchored on accountability, rule of law, and fear of God.

“It is going to be a teamwork. My theme has always been ‘I win, you win.’ The party is going to sit down and chart the course and process moving forward,” he said.

He also commended party leaders and aspirants who stepped down for contributing to what he described as a peaceful and successful process, assuring that his administration would reflect broad consultation and inclusion.

The former lawmaker further expressed appreciation to the APC for the confidence reposed in him, promising to deliver a government that serves all interests in Rivers State.
