…As group questions eligibility of APM.
In what may be described as tactical ambush , the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has been dragged into the net of deregisteration by a group seeking for Court interrogation of eligibility of the aforementioned party to participate in the forthcoming 2027 election. This is contained in suit Number; FHC/ABJ/CS/1053/2026 filed on 26th May 2026 at the Federal High Court Abuja.
It will be recalled that the National Forum of Former Legislators had dragged 5 political parties (ADC, Accord, ZLP ,APP and ZLP ) to the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja for failing to meet constitutional threshold to remain as Political parties.
The matter currently before Justice Peter Lifu have undergone full hearing and fixed for judgement for 5th June, 2026.
In a sudden twist, the Accord Party however challenged their Joinder in the suit at the Court of Appeal and secured a Stay of Proceedings order. The Court of Appeal also adjourned hearing in the matter to October, 2026. This development stalls further action of the matter at the Federal High Court.
Reacting to the Court of Appeal Ruling, the spokesperson of the Forum, Hon. Danlandi Sulaiman expressed dissatisfaction and vowed they will appeal the decision at the Supreme Court. This amounts to arresting Judgment of the Federal High Court he said.
