The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the redeployment of Commissioners of Police to various state commands and strategic formations across the country as part of efforts to strengthen operational effectiveness and enhance leadership within the Nigeria Police Force.
The nationwide reshuffle, which received the approval of the Police Service Commission, affects eight state commands and several key operational departments at the Force Headquarters and other formations.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
According to the statement, CP Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo has been posted to Abia State Command, while CP Ayodeji Faniyan takes over Plateau State. CP Saka Adewale Ajao was deployed to Bayelsa, CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue to Cross River, CP Nanna Oji Ama to Anambra, CP Patrick Daaor to Edo, CP Tani Murtala to Jigawa, and CP Samuel Erale to Delta State.
The redeployment also covers critical units, including the Force Intelligence Department, Force Criminal Investigation Department, Department of Finance and Administration, Department of Training and Development, Counter Terrorism Unit, Police Academy, Police Staff College, and Anti-Human Trafficking Units in Abuja, Lagos, Kaduna and Gombe.
Among the key appointments, CP Yemi John Oyeniyi was assigned to Intelligence and Training at the Force Intelligence Department, CP Charles Ezekwesiri Dike to INTERPOL at the FCID, Abuja, CP Taiwo A. Adedeji to the Counter Terrorism Unit at Force Headquarters, Abuja, while CP Mohammed Hassan Ahmed was named Deputy Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos.
Other officers affected by the postings include CP Uduak Ita Otu, CP Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf, CP Ajayi Oluyemi, CP Bolanle Aremu, CP Ibrahim Lukunche Usman, CP Rita Oyintare Oki, CP Ibrahim Umar D. Zungura, CP Nelson Nwamana, CP Akingbade C. Adeyinka, CP Iya Umar Mohammed, CP Darma Nuhu Na’aliyu, CP Mohammed Yakubu and CP Danbaba Mohammed Labbo, who were deployed to various operational, administrative, training, welfare and investigative departments.
Charging the newly deployed officers, the IGP urged them to bring their experience to bear in improving policing outcomes across their new jurisdictions.
“The affected senior officers are to bring their wealth of experience to bear in their new assignments by strengthening intelligence-led policing, enhancing operational effectiveness, promoting professionalism, and deepening community engagement in line with the vision of the Force,” he said.
Disu further tasked the Commissioners of Police to remain committed to safeguarding lives and property while upholding discipline, accountability and effective service delivery.
The Force noted that the redeployment forms part of its broader reform agenda, emphasising that strategic personnel postings remain a key tool for enhancing efficiency, strengthening institutional capacity and improving policing services nationwide.
