Zero Tolerance for Corruption Vanguard Condemns GTBank’s “Fraudulent” Activities

By Mercy Adi

Richard Aro, convener of the Zero Tolerance for Corruption Vanguard, has launched a scathing attack on Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), labeling it a “fraudulent organisation” and urging Nigerians to boycott its services. Aro’s condemnation stems from the bank’s alleged fraudulent activities, which he claims have severely impacted rural communities reliant on remittances for their livelihoods.

“Many rural dwellers never receive the funds sent to them, or in some cases, do not even get notifications of transfers,” Aro said, highlighting the growing frustration among the bank’s customers. He also criticized GTBank’s customer service, describing its representatives as “rude, unhelpful, and disorganised,” leaving many Nigerians unable to resolve issues effectively.

Comrade Emmanuel Oteku, a GTBank customer, shared his own harrowing experience, saying, “My transfer failed to reach the recipient, and attempts to resolve the issue have proven futile.” Aro demanded that the federal government intervene, warning that GTBank’s practices pose a serious threat to the country’s economy and security.

The group called for the federal government to investigate GTBank’s activities and for the bank’s CEO, Segun Agbaje, to step down and face prosecution.
