…says APC alignment opening new opportunities for development

The member representing Ndokwa East/Ndokwa West/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, has restated his commitment to improving the welfare of his constituents through sustained medical interventions, educational investment, and infrastructural development.
Speaking during an interview at his office in the National Assembly Complex, Abuja, Ezechi said his latest constituency project — a free medical outreach across the three local government areas of his constituency, was designed to bring healthcare services directly to the doorsteps of people who can hardly afford hospital treatment.
According to him, the outreach, which has already recorded hundreds of beneficiaries, was part of a broader empowerment plan targeted at vulnerable groups, especially the elderly and those in remote communities.
Health is wealth, Ezechi said. “Taking this medical outreach to the downtrodden is because our people hardly access healthcare services. From the reactions and feedback we’ve received, it’s clear that the people genuinely need help. Many of our elderly citizens do not have the funds to cater for their health. Some even told us before this programme that they were simply waiting for sickness to take their lives. Taking healthcare to their doorsteps has changed that story.”
He explained that the outreach was carried out in phases across Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, and Ukwuani, featuring consultations, laboratory tests, surgeries, and drug administration.
“We deliberately decentralized the outreach,” he continued. “Rather than doing it in one central location, we took it local government by local government. Doctors and nurses examined, treated, and even operated on patients where necessary. People are happy and relieved. I think this is one of the best ways to touch lives directly.”
Beyond healthcare, the lawmaker disclosed that the next phase of his constituency development plan would focus on education, power, and industrial growth, adding that discussions were ongoing with relevant ministries and agencies to address key infrastructure gaps.
“Health care is continuous, but we also intend to invest more in education. Another critical area is power. Our people have long suffered from inadequate electricity despite Ndokwa being one of the richest oil and gas-producing regions in Nigeria. We have engaged several times with the Hon. Minister of Power and the Transmission Company of Nigeria to ensure step-down electricity projects are delivered to our communities,” Ezechi said.
Ezechi lamented that despite Ndokwa’s contribution to the nation’s oil and gas output, the area has not received commensurate attention in infrastructure and job creation.
“My community alone has thousands of oil wells, yet, the people are not feeling the impact. That is why I keep preaching peace and patience. Development can only thrive in a peaceful environment.”
The lawmaker commended the Delta State Government for progress recorded at the Kwale Industrial Park and Free Trade Zone, which he described as a “major turning point” for the region’s economy.
“About six companies are already working at the industrial park, One of them alone is expected to employ between 5,000 and 6,000 youths. These are opportunities we have been waiting for. The Governor of Delta State has created an enabling environment, and I encourage investors to take advantage of it. Ndokwa is peaceful, safe, and open for business,” He Admonished
On concerns that the new Kwale Market, built as part of his constituency project, was yet to be put to use, Ezechi clarified that he had officially handed the facility to the local council for management and allocation.
“That market was built based on community request, I have written officially to the council to take over and allocate the stalls fairly. I’ve also directed that it be opened immediately. By next week, the market should be functional. The goal is to ease the pressure on the old clustered market and spread development to new areas,” he explained.
Ezechi, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) about five months ago, said his decision was in the best interest of his people, stressing that political alignment with the center had begun to yield positive results.
“My defection to the APC was not a personal decision but a collective one, the PDP has been engulfed in endless crises and litigations. We saw the light early enough, it is better to connect to the center than to work in isolation. With President Bola Tinubu’s administration, we are already seeing the benefits of being aligned,”he said.
He further dismissed concerns about the legality of defections in the National Assembly, saying, “As a legislator, I don’t interpret the law, that’s for the judiciary. What matters is that due process was followed. We met all legal requirements before crossing over, so there’s no cause for alarm.”
Ezechi maintained that his focus remains on delivering tangible projects and empowering his constituents, regardless of political differences.
“Politics should not stop development, my duty is to represent the people of Ndokwa faithfully. I am committed to health, education, jobs, and infrastructure, these are the things that matter most,” he said.
He added that the peace, stability, and resource wealth of Ndokwa land make it a region to watch in Delta State’s development trajectory.
“We are a peaceful people, and our peace is already attracting opportunities, the federal government and private investors can rest assured that Ndokwa is ready and open for growth concluded.
