The All Progressives Congress has adopted Hon. Kabiru Amadu, Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, as its consensus candidate for the Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency seat in Zamfara State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Amadu, popularly known as “Mai-Palace,” is currently serving his second term in the House of Representatives.

Party stakeholders in the constituency said the decision followed wide consultations and was based on his performance in office and growing grassroots support.

A party chieftain in the area, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak officially, said, “The choice of Hon. Amadu as consensus candidate was unanimous. His track record in constituency development and representation made the decision easy for leaders of the party.”

The lawmaker’s endorsement has reportedly sparked celebrations across the constituency, with community leaders, youth groups, women’s associations, and religious organisations expressing support for his re-election bid.

A community leader in Tsafe, Alhaji Musa Ibrahim, said, “We have seen the impact of his projects in our communities. From infrastructure to empowerment programmes, he has delivered on his promises.”

During his current tenure, Amadu has overseen several constituency projects aimed at improving infrastructure and social welfare, earning him recognition among constituents.

As Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, he has also contributed to legislative efforts and policy discussions focused on advancing sports development in the country.

Observers believe his emergence as a consensus candidate may further strengthen the APC’s chances of retaining the seart in the 2027 elections.
