The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Tuesday visited the headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Abuja as part of efforts to strengthen inter-agency cooperation in tackling security challenges across the country.
Disu was received by the Commandant-General of the Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, during the strategic visit aimed at deepening collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the NSCDC.
Speaking during the visit, the IGP stressed the importance of synergy among security agencies, noting that coordinated efforts remain vital in addressing emerging threats and ensuring public safety.
He said, “Effective collaboration among security agencies is critical to national stability. We must continue to strengthen our partnership to improve intelligence-led policing and operational efficiency.”
Disu also reaffirmed the commitment of the police to building stronger alliances with sister agencies to enhance the country’s internal security architecture.
In his response, Audi commended the IGP for the visit, describing it as the first of its kind by a sitting Inspector-General of Police to the Corps headquarters.
“This visit is a clear demonstration of commitment to inter-agency collaboration,” he said.
Audi acknowledged the police as the lead internal security agency and appreciated the force for its continued support to the corps in carrying out its mandate.
He further advocated the establishment of a joint fusion centre between the police and the NSCDC to boost coordination and intelligence sharing in tackling evolving security threats nationwide.
The police reiterated their commitment to strengthening institutional partnerships with relevant security agencies to safeguard lives and property across the country.
