The All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in the Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State have endorsed the incumbent member of the House of Representatives, Clement Jimbo, for a second term in the 2027 general elections, but resolved that he should not seek a third term in 2031.
The resolution was reached at a meeting of critical APC stakeholders held at the residence of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, in Ikot Udom, Ika Local Government Area, on Friday.
The stakeholders also zoned the federal constituency seat to Ika Local Government Area for the 2031 general elections, according to resolutions reached at a meeting of critical APC stakeholders in Ika Local Government Area on Friday.
The stakeholders further resolved that no indigene of Abak Local Government Area should seek election to the federal constituency seat in the 2031 election cycle.
The resolutions were contained in a communiqué signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Communiqué Committee, Hon. Utibe Nwoko and Elder Nkopuruk Ekaiko, respectively.
The communiqué stated that the zoning arrangement would apply to the three component local government areas, with each expected to produce the federal lawmaker for two terms.
The stakeholders also endorsed Jimbo, the current member representing the constituency, for the 2027 election, alongside other APC candidates for various elective positions.
They resolved to support President Bola Tinubu for another term as President, Senate President Godswill Akpabio for the Senate, and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno for governor.
The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Udeme Otong, was endorsed for the Abak State Constituency seat, while Sir Boniface Ebewo was endorsed for the Etim Ekpo/Ika State Constituency.
The stakeholders directed APC politicians and political leaders in the constituency to return to their respective communities and political structures to commence mobilisation, enlightenment and sensitisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
The meeting also passed votes of confidence in Tinubu, Akpabio, Eno and Ekpo, commending them for their leadership and contributions to the development of Nigeria and Akwa Ibom State.
The APC stakeholders similarly passed a vote of confidence in the party’s state chairman, Obong Stephen Ntokekpo, and commended him for approving the meeting and attending it.
The motion on the zoning arrangement was moved by former member of the House of Representatives, Akan Eyo, and seconded by a former member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Friday Iwok.
The motion was put to the Congress by former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Nse Ekanem, and was unanimously adopted through a “Yea” vote.
Those present at the meeting included Ekpo; Otong; Ntokekpo; Jimbo; Idung; former commissioner Emmanuel Enoidem; former Speaker Nse Ekanem; former Deputy Speaker Uwem Udoma; former lawmakers Akan Eyo and Gabriel Toby, among others.
Also in attendance were the chairmen of Abak, Etim Ekpo and Ika local government areas, Lady Ime Charles, Gideon Uwah and Utibe Nwoko, respectively, as well as the APC State Women Leader, Obonganwan Obonodo Uko.SEO Options
