The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has led heads of sister security and law enforcement agencies in the state to pay tribute to the late Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Corps Commander Franklin Onyekwelu Agbakoba.
Giwa, who led members of the Forum of Interagency Security Heads in Enugu State, paid the tribute on Thursday, August 27, 2026, during the late commander’s lying-in-state at the FRSC Sector Command Headquarters, GRA, Enugu.
Speaking on behalf of the forum, the police commissioner described Agbakoba as a dependable partner, committed professional and valuable member of the interagency security community whose contributions to road safety and collective security in the state would be greatly missed.
He said the late FRSC commander was a regular and active participant in meetings of FISHES, where he made meaningful contributions to security deliberations and brought his professional expertise and practical experience to discussions on security and traffic-related challenges in the state.
Giwa also recalled the deceased’s warmth, camaraderie and characteristic sense of humour, which, according to him, often brought a refreshing atmosphere to meetings and social gatherings organised by members of the forum.
The commissioner, on behalf of the security heads, commiserated with the family of the deceased, officers and men of the FRSC, as well as his colleagues and associates.
He prayed that God Almighty would grant the family the strength to bear the loss and grant the soul of the deceased eternal rest.
The tribute was part of activities marking the lying-in-state of the late Sector Commander, as representatives of sister security and law enforcement agencies joined the FRSC family to honour his memory and acknowledge his service to Enugu State and Nigeria.
The late Agbakoba was remembered not only for his professional commitment but also for his role in strengthening interagency cooperation among security and law enforcement agencies in the state.
