Comrade Comfort Chukwukelue has been elected Vice Chairman (House of Representatives) of the National Assembly New Media Forum, promising to promote professionalism, unity, and responsible digital communication within the parliamentary media space.
In her acceptance speech on Friday, Chukwukelue expressed gratitude to members of the forum for the confidence reposed in her, describing her emergence as a call to greater responsibility.
“With profound gratitude and a deep sense of responsibility, I humbly accept the mandate entrusted to me,” she said.
She attributed her victory to divine grace and appreciated members for their trust and encouragement, noting that she would not take the opportunity for granted.
The newly elected vice chairman also commended the forum’s leadership for fostering professionalism and effective media engagement within the National Assembly.
She emphasised the critical role of new media practitioners in shaping public perception, strengthening democratic participation, and bridging the gap between lawmakers and the public.
Chukwukelue pledged to work closely with the Chairman, Clement Nwabuko, members of the executive, and the pioneer Chairman, Yemi Itodo, to advance the forum’s objectives.
“As Vice Chairman representing the House of Representatives arm, I pledge my commitment to working collaboratively… to advance the objectives of this Forum,” she said.
She added that her administration would prioritise responsible journalism, ethical digital communication, capacity building, and stronger synergy among members.
Describing her victory as a collective achievement, Chukwukelue urged members to remain committed and supportive in building a vibrant and respected platform.
“I assure you all that I will discharge my responsibilities with integrity, fairness, diligence, and inclusiveness,” she added.
She reaffirmed her openness to ideas, partnerships, and constructive engagements aimed at moving the forum forward.
