The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the safe rescue of a woman, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were abducted in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, noting that the victims were rescued during a coordinated operation by the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team.
According to the statement, the victims were abducted at about 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2026, while the mother was driving her children to school in Ibadan.
“The hostages were rescued at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, following sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tactical operations,” Placid said.
He explained that the operatives tracked the movement of the kidnappers, leading to a confrontation during which two suspects were fatally wounded.
“During the confrontation, two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded and two rifles were recovered. The victims were rescued unharmed and are currently receiving medical care and support,” he added.
The police spokesman said the Inspector-General of Police commended the operatives for their professionalism and courage.
“Their resilience and commitment were instrumental in the safe rescue of the hostages,” Placid stated.
He further revealed that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who fled the scene.
“Preliminary intelligence indicates that some suspects escaped with gunshot injuries. Operations are ongoing to track, arrest, and bring all involved to justice,” he said.
The police also appreciated members of the public for their cooperation during the operation, reiterating their commitment to tackling violent crimes and ensuring the safety of citizens across the country.
