The Nigeria Police Force has assured candidates, parents, and the general public of adequate security arrangements ahead of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.
The examination is scheduled to commence on April 16, 2026.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, the police dismissed reports alleging insecurity at some examination centres in a North Central state, describing them as unfounded.
“The Nigeria Police Force is aware of recent unfounded rumours circulating regarding the safety of certain centres… The NPF wishes to categorically state that these claims are without basis,” the statement read.
The police, however, noted that concerns raised by members of the public had been acknowledged, prompting proactive measures to safeguard candidates.
According to the statement, additional security personnel have been deployed to examination centres nationwide, both overtly and covertly, to prevent any disruption.
“This includes routine patrols, perimeter checks, and rapid response teams stationed at strategic locations,” Placid said.
He added that the police were collaborating with other security agencies to monitor and address potential threats, warning that anyone attempting to disrupt the examination process would be apprehended and prosecuted.
The force urged candidates to arrive early at their examination centres, comply with regulations, and report suspicious activities to security personnel on ground.
It also advised the public to disregard unverified information circulating on social media and rely only on official updates from JAMB and the police.
“The Nigeria Police Force reassures candidates, parents, and the general public that every measure has been taken to guarantee a safe and conducive environment for all examinations,” the statement added.
The police reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and public confidence in national activities, including the forthcoming JAMB examinations.
